The Pac-Man On The Moon

Guys are from Mars. Girls are from Venus. And – at least according to this shot from NASA – Pac-Man is from Saturn.

The moon is named Mimas and it’s shown on the left in what the NASA site refers to as “visible light.” (Is there such a thing as invisible light, I wonder?) Anyway, whatever light it’s in, even NASA admits it looks like the Death Star. The image on the right shows Mimas’ temperature map which looks like Pac-Man about to chomp down on a power pellet.

Part Death Star. Part Pac-Man. Totally awesome. Mimas is now officially the coolest moon ever. I wonder if there’s a colony of gamer nerds living there in harmony. If there is, and your colony leader sees this post, I would like to let you know that I would not at all be opposed to an invitation to visit.

Mario Paint Animaniacs Theme

It’s a twofer! Two blasts from the pasts in one YouTube video.

I have fond memories of “Mario Paint.” One of which was going over to my friend Rachel’s house and creating an animation of two stick figures humping with accompanying fart noises and laughing so hard that we couldn’t figure out how to stop it from playing when her parents came upstairs to see what the hell we were doing. We weren’t allowed to play that game for awhile.

I was a huge Animaniacs fan and I rarely let anything get in the way of watching an episode after school. I remember being over at my little cousin’s house who liked Animaniacs and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The problem was, they came on at the same time. From the beginning, Brandon would watch Animaniacs then switch over to TMNT at the first commercial break thinking Yakko, Wakko and Dot were done for the day. I convinced him to stick through the commercials – which he was fine with until he flipped back over to get some Turtle Power and got nothing but the credits. BURN!

Half-Life Mod Replaces Sound Effects With Human Voice

I hate it when I come up with an idea, put it on the back burner and then see someone else do it. This is one of those times. The good news is, Trase- aKa Patcher aKa Tr45e, did a great job with this mod in which he replaced 1327 sounds (I’m surprised he didn’t go for 1337) in Half-Life 2 with his own vocal stylings. Pretty funny stuff.

Guy Builds Companion Cube

This is the work of Livejournal user, James White. He just did a post with step-by-step pictures showing how he took some blocks of wood and turned them into awesome. I think James needs to have a talk with some cake companies and work out a deal where he makes companion cubes as a way to deliver birthday cakes. And, just because I’m such a nice, giving person, I’d be happy to beta test that delivery service just to make sure it all works out.
