Happy Belated Birthday, Tetris.

tetrispotsPic Stolt from Behance.net

On June 6th, millions of grandmothers, old-school gamers, and bored office secretaries across the world gave a big Ensure toast to Tetris – which just celebrated its 25th year on our planet. Sadly, you can’t buy the Tetris pots pictured above to celebrate. They were part of an art project from 2007 at the Estonian Academy of Arts in Tallinn.

So… happy birthday from all of us who have enjoyed your block-tastic puzzlery across various consoles and calculators since 1984. And you suck for reminding us that 1984 was 25 years ago.

Project Natal at E3

For those of you who haven’t seen this particular video on Project Natal, checkkit. My favorite part is at about 3:29 where Creative Director Kudo Tsunoda totally burns the Nintendo Wii.

And because the release date hasn’t been announced, but they’re already capable of doing things like you’ll see in this next video, I would like to encourage all horror film creators to start writing scripts NOW that have to do with gamers connecting with evil virtual worlds. If you can release a movie the same week as Natal, you’ll make millions.

Level-Update Episode #20

  • The Sims 3 gets nekkid.
  • Manhattan GameStop employees get trapped in the store by a swarm of bees.
  • Blockbuster offers both video game and movie rentals by mail in Cleveland.
  • 6-year-old Matthew North stops gaming – starts crashing cars.
  • Susan Betancourt leaves one-year-old in the car so she can go get her game on.
  • No strip poker for the Aussies.

inFamous for PS3

This is a pretty sweet interactive experience promoting the PS3 game: inFamous from Sucker Punch Productions. In the game, you play Cole MacGrath who – according to Wikipedia – is “a bike messenger given an assignment to deliver a package that is secretly a bomb. Cole survives the massive explosion and develops electricity-based powers. Soon, Cole discovers that his city has fallen into chaos under the rule of gangs and factions and must fight back against them to restore order.” Following a comic book style, this game actually looks pretty cool. It’s already out in the U.S. and will be available in Australia (pending any “OMG this is too violent!” censorship issues from the board) on June 4th.

Check out the official site where you can download a comic book (it’s in the media section) that gives you the back story»
