Colbert Shows Off the X-Xbox

About two minutes in to this clip, Colbert gives his views on Project Natal and reveals the X-Xbox:

The Colbert Report Mon – Thurs 11:30pm / 10:30c
Bears & Balls – Tobacco, Project Natal & Graveyard Bids

Colbert Report Full Episodes Political Humor Stephen Colbert in Iraq

So what do you think of Project Natal? I think it’s the perfect way for Microsoft to snag sales away from Nintendo Wii. They’ll get the family gamers with big houses and lots of room to kick and punch, but – mostly because my money goes to Xbox 360 games – I have to live in a tiny loft with about three feet of room between my TV and couch, so that whole motion-sensing, get up and jump around thing doesn’t really work for me.

Omfg that guy is such a genius… I was rofflin there!

The problem with project Natal is precisely the lack of a controller… how are “core” games going to be played using the thing? I love the concept and all buuuut…

I’m very skeptical about this. First of all, the footage released at E3 (and subsequently shown on Colbert) was all simulated… it didn’t actually show anyone playing a game with it. Essentially a slick “concept” illustration of future technology working wonderfully. Convenient! Secondly, I’m not so sure that I want to hold my arms out in front of me for hours on end to play a driving game. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll buy this when it’s available, but I’m not buying into the media hype just yet.
