Midway Hooks Up with Warner Bros.

In relationship news, Midway Games – who brought us classics like Space Invaders, Mortal Kombat, Pac-Man and Tron – just took themselves off the market and decided to settle down with Warner Brothers, the only suitor willing to marry them despite their bad credit.

Back in May, Warner Brothers made an offer of $33 million dollars to purchase the bankrupt Midway Games. Not wanting to seem to eager, Midway decided to open things up for bidding and waited a month hoping for a bidding war. In a somewhat embarrassing turn of events, there wasn’t a single competitive offer. So, Midway ended the auction and graciously accepted the original offer.

R.I.P. Michael Jackson

It’s hard to believe, but it’s true. Michael Jackson is officially dead. It’s so sad. My first concert was Michael Jackson. When I was little, I used to spin Thriller and lay in the floor next to the album sleeve fantasizing about the day we would get married and he would let me play with his tigers.

I had 5 or 6 t-shirts (I wish I’d saved those) and wore them religiously. And now … he’s gone. So sad. Such a tragedy. Thanks for the memories, MJ. :(

Colbert Shows Off the X-Xbox

About two minutes in to this clip, Colbert gives his views on Project Natal and reveals the X-Xbox:

The Colbert Report Mon – Thurs 11:30pm / 10:30c
Bears & Balls – Tobacco, Project Natal & Graveyard Bids
Colbert Report Full Episodes Political Humor Stephen Colbert in Iraq

So what do you think of Project Natal? I think it’s the perfect way for Microsoft to snag sales away from Nintendo Wii. They’ll get the family gamers with big houses and lots of room to kick and punch, but – mostly because my money goes to Xbox 360 games – I have to live in a tiny loft with about three feet of room between my TV and couch, so that whole motion-sensing, get up and jump around thing doesn’t really work for me.

Penn & Teller to Call Bullshit on Jack Thompson?

Just read a post on Destructoid about season 7 of Penn & Teller’s Bullshit! and watched this clip that features none other than Jack Thompson. Awhile back, I said I wasn’t going to post anything else about that old coot because I think he gets off on seeing his name mentioned anywhere whether it’s bad or good press. BUT, I’m breaking that promise now because I’m excited about the idea of Penn & Teller taking him down on their show.

If you haven’t seen the show, go get the DVDs now. From orgasms to recycling, these two magicians/comedians debunk a lot of the common misconceptions people have. Hopefully they’ll blow apart the idea that gaming is the root of all evil. We shall see. The season premiere is on Thursday, June 25th at 10 PM ET/PT on Showtime.

UPDATE 06/23/09: For my friends who can’t watch the clip because of country restrictions (WTF LAME!) The clip shows Jack Thompson looking all smug in front of a grandfather clock and saying: “Grand Theft Auto is the worst assault on children since Polio.”

Switching Hosting Accounts

Aight. I’m officially switching hosting accounts tonight. Hopefully, everything won’t fall apart. If my site is being weird, this is why. Wish me luck. :)

UPDATE (11:30 PM) – So … about that whole switching hosting accounts thing. Yeeeah. Not so much. I knew it was going to be a pain in the ass. I just wasn’t quite aware of HOW big a pain in the ass it was going to be. After about 3 hours of fucking around with it, I’ve decided to stick with my current plan and tough it out. At least until I’m less tired and cranky.
