80GB PS3 Gets $100 Price Drop
Starting in September 2008, the PLAYSTATION¬Æ3 (PS3‚Ñ¢) 80GB model will become the mainstay of the company‚Äôs hardware line-up. They’re dropping the 80GB price $100 bucks putting the console at just $399 – the current price of the 40GB model.

SCEA will introduce the PS3 Greatest Hits program beginning July 28th. Through the program, gamers can get some of the best titles at a reduced price of $29.99. The initial inductees include:

Launching in October 2008 for $199.99 MSRP, one bundle will include a limited-edition silver PSP system with Ratchet and Clank¬Æ Size Matters; a blockbuster movie on UMD¬Æ (they don’t say which one… guess it will depend on what’s popular in October); a PLAYSTATION¬ÆNetwork voucher to download echochrome‚Ñ¢ from PLAYSTATION¬ÆStore and a 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo‚Ñ¢ for storing music, videos, photos and such.

In addition, SCEA introduced a new family entertainment bundle for the PlayStation¬Æ2 system.
