John P. Harvard is Master Chief in Training

Those crazy MIT kids decided to celebrate the launch of Halo 3 with a little makeover to the John P. Harvard statue. You can see it in the pic, but apparently they wrote “Master Chief in Training” on the back of the helmet and put a Beaver emblem on his right shoulder.

Here’s what the statue looks like without the helmet and rifle. Is that a lei around his neck? What’s up with that?

Kendra Sasser

30-year-old Kendra Sasser was arrested by the FBI on Tuesday for trying to get her groove on with a 16-year-old boy she met on MySpace. Kendra’s husband knew she was using the interwebs to have sexual chats with at least one underage male. To prove it, he installed monitoring software on their home computer and busted her sending messages like this one: “This last pic is 4 ur personal enjoyment *grinzz* you gotta make sure this last pic no one sees okay? You might wanna hide this one. You can’t let parents see it or ur screwed srsly!” which was accompanied by a cell phone pic of her genitals (I just gagged).

According to the article in the Dayton Daily News, Kendra suggested they use Xbox Live to give each other a “free show.” Apparently, the boy didn’t have enough allowance money saved up to buy a web cam, so Kendra sent him a GameStop gift card for $40 and he bought one.

Gross, dude. This lady has some serious issues. Luckily, she won’t be bothering any boys for awhile. On Tuesday, U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael R. Merz sentenced her to 15 to 30 years in prison. Game over, Kendra!

The wait for Halo 3 Finally Ends

For those itching after a 3 year wait to get their mitts on the latest Halo sequel, retailers including select GameStops and 7-11s opened up shop at midnight last night… (wait, would that be midnight today? whatever…). The turnout was exactly as expected: insane.

“Halo 3 is the biggest game ever for reservations in the history of GameStop,” said employee Brian. “We’ve already pre-sold more copies than Halo 2, World of Warcraft, or any other big releases.” (SOURCE: GamesIndustry.biz)

Will the game be what we expected? We shall see. I’m picking up my copy tonight. :-)

I <3 Threadless.com

If you’re having a crap-tastic day, I highly recommend searching through Threadless.com and spending your hard earned cash on their shirts. They’re funny and they’re well made. And no, I’m not getting paid to pimp Threadless. I just like them. And why shouldn’t I? Check out their latest design:

RIP WSVG. Now what?

Last week, I was scheduling my trip to the L.A. WSVG. I couldn’t remember the exact dates, so I went to the official site to find out, but instead found this message:

“WORLD SERIES OF VIDEO GAMES CANCELLED [sic]

Effective immediately, Games Media Properties will no longer produce the World Series of Video Games. The remainder of the 2007 season in Los Angeles, London and Sweden is cancelled [sic].

The World Series of Video Games launched with the goal of expanding interest and participation in competitive gaming. Over the course of two seasons, we have been honored by the strong support the community has shown in attending our festivals, and watching our competitions online and on television– all in record-setting numbers. We have been grateful for the generous support provided by Intel and other sponsors since our inception.” Blah blah blah read the rest of the message here if you want to.

This misspelled message pretty much ruined my freaking day. I was really looking forward to judging the Guitar Hero II competition in Los Angeles. I have a bunch of friends out there it would’ve been nice to see. Alas … no luck. You can read more about the fiasco here.

Now I’m wondering who else might be interested in creating a new Guitar Hero competition. A better one. One with judging that makes sense and judges that know what the hell they’re talking about. This is the perfect opportunity for someone to take what they’ve learned from the WSVG and make something better. Who’s interested?
