Looking for Halo 3 Beta?

Check out your local GameStop. A few of them are still selling Crackdown bundled with the Halo 3 demo. And if you’re wondering if Crackdown is worth playing, I haven’t played it yet, but I’ve heard good things. Make sure you get one of the first edition copies of Crackdown – not second. Only the first round has the Halo Beta download. Have any of you played the beta yet? I’ve heard mixed reviews. Mostly about how it didn’t really change since the last one but it’s still awesome. What do you think?

Video Games Cure Cancer

Well … sort of. In an attempt to help the gaming generation cope with leukemia, HopeLab created Re-Mission, a free PC based video game. “It kind of gives a whole new perspective on fighting cancer. I mean you can’t really do it physically, so you can do it virtually,” says David Kossow, a seventeen-year-old lukemia patient. The game is available in English, Spanish and French through Re-Mission.net, a virtual community designed to support the young cancer patients.

I got a PS3

It sure looks sexy. But I need more than looks and so far, I haven’t gotten much. I rented Ridge Racer 7 to take the system on a test run and I gotta tell ya, I wasn’t all that impressed. Sure, I guess it was good. But was it six hundred dollars good?? I don’t know about all that. Maybe I just picked the wrong game. But there’s some flair missing if it’s 9:22, I haven’t got anything to do and I’m in here writing a blog post instead of playing my new PS3. Maybe I’m just bitter because Sony took away the rumble feature from the controllers. That WRECKS me. If I’m playing a game like Ridge Racer 7 and I’m barreling down the road, I want to FEEL the road. I felt like I was driving on an ice skating rink. It’s just not the same. Sony … don’t you know it’s never a good idea to take away a girl’s vibrator?

Can you hear me now? NO!

So I started playing Spider-Man 3 yesterday. I’ve only spent about an hour with it, but so far it’s really good. The only problem I seem to be having is with the sound. For the most part, everything is balanced, but when I went through the tutorials, the tutorial voice was so low. Same thing any time Peter/Spidey throws a clue your way like “Oh, that thing over there is on fire. I should knock down one of these pipes to spray water on it.” (Not hearing those can be a little harsh). I tried adjusting the audio options. I put the voice level down to 100% and everything else down to 0, then cranked up the volume. Still, it was muffled and crappy. The same thing happened to me with Guitar Hero II on the 360. Everything sounded great but the tutorials. Is anyone else having problems with sound on these two games? Any suggestions or do I need to send in my 360 for repairs?
