The other day, my best friend told me about an episode of Seinfeld where George finds an old Frogger arcade cabinet. As it turns out, it’s the same arcade cabinet he played as a teen and since then no one has beaten his high score. In an effort to preserve his high score forever, he decides to buy the cabinet and figures out a way to keep it powered (to keep from deleting his #1 spot) while he transports it back to his apartment. I’d never seen the episode, so I thought I’d do a YouTube search and see what I could find. Voila:
At the national launch of Sony‚Äôs PSP in Education initiative, SCE UK managing director Ray Maguire spoke about the company’s intentions to redesign their portable platform. That’s good because the current design SUCKS ASS! The only way I can tolerate using my PSP is with a nerd-tastic grip like this one:
According to this GamesIndustry.biz article, the new PSP would lose some be slimmer, lighter and cheaper. No changes will be made to the size of PSP‚Äôs screen which is “fixed”.

In order to confuse you so that you’ll spend more money in the Xbox Live Arcade than you should, Microsoft invented Microsoft Points. This way, instead of charging your credit or debit card a tangible dollar amount for each purchase, you spend points. Having trouble doing the math on a points to dollars conversion? Check out the Microsoft Points Converter. All you have to do is enter the number of points, hit the “Convert” button and you’ll see the monetary equivalent.
With so many cross-platform games being released, I wondered when we might start seeing cross-platform playability. This week Nintendo announced that on June 25th, gamers will be able to link their Nintendo DS to their Wii for the first time to play Pokemon Battle Revolution – the first Wii to include Nintendo Wi-Fi connection play. Pokemon Battle Revolution was one of the standouts revealed at the San Francisco Game Developers Conference.
“With strong third-party support, Wii and Nintendo DS have games on the way for both casual and veteran gamers,” says Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “Our new ways to play have attracted millions of players around the world. This lineup demonstrates our commitment to leading the industry with the future of video gaming.”
Third-party publishers also have stepped up their support of both Wii and Nintendo DS, recognizing these systems as the hottest things going in the video game industry. The list of games for April, May and June includes the following:

I’m in negotiations to become the official host for a Gearbox Software recruitment video, so yesterday I had lunch with two team members – Alex Flores, Director of Creative Services, and Tatum Tippett, Assistant Marketing/PR Manager. We had a chat about biznass and then I got an official tour of Gearbox’s sweet space. Right now, these guys and gals are glued to their computers developing Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway and are working with Sega to develop an Aliens FPS based on the movies.
This is what happens when you take bad
camera phone pictures and then get bored.
Of course, the meeting wasn’t all business. I mean, you can’t put two nerd-tastic gamer girls in the same room with a guy wearing a humping unicorn shirt and expect them not to goof off. We spent a little time on YouTube… and even though this video has nothing to do with gaming (other than a brief PlayStation shout out), I saw it for the first time at Gearbox so I felt like I could make an exception.
Don’t worry, they had my permission. David Chapman, one of the GameAlmighty.com journalists, needed a pic of someone gaming for his news piece on Nielson’s home game console stats. Check out his article and the rest of the site. There’s plenty of good video game related stuff there to keep you informed and entertained.
For those of you that don’t know, I’m currently putting together a demo of a Game Dame TV show (so site updates are going to be scattered this week). Then, I’ll pitch it to investors, they’ll give me tons of money, and I can finally live my dream of making a nice living doing nothing but playing and discussing video games. But I need a name for the show. Anyone got suggestions? Winner gets a cookie.
