PS3 Banned from Prisons

This blurb from Next Generation says that UK Home Secretary John Reid has banned Sony’s PlayStation 3 from jails. Uhhh… WTF?! Why would video game consoles be allowed into jails in the first place? Are you kidding me?! Apparently, they banned the PS2 back in June 2006 because the inmates were watching porn on the console. :-/ Why did inmates get access to a PS2 in the first place?! Do you mean to tell me that if I’d broken the law before 2006, I would’ve gotten thrown into a climate controlled cell where I didn’t have to work, someone else would do my laundry and feed me, everyone would leave me the hell alone and I could play video games?!? Stupid guidance counselor!!!

Cod of War

COD OF WAR

Once you’ve beaten God of War II on any difficulty level, you can go back and replay it using the unlocked blade of Olympus, Urns of Power and all of your previous weapon and magic levels. If you opt to re-play a beaten level, you’ll be able to choose your costume. Depending on what levels you’ve beaten, you’ll have access to a few different options, but one that gets unlocked no matter what level you’ve beaten is the Cod of War costume.

That’s right … fish hooks of destruction and everything. PlayStation held a GoWII alternate costume contest. Voters voiced their opinions and chose three winners, but the Cod of War costume is the coolest.

I just finished God of War II

If you haven’t had a chance to play God of War II, you need to go get it as soon as you stop reading this. Other than 3-4 puzzles that I HATED for being lame, the game is just challenging enough to keep you on the edge of frustration while still being fun. The sound in this game is amazing. I kept humming along. The graphics are decent until the final scenes when they become AWESOME. I’ve heard some say they felt the game was too short, but I thought it was just right. Has anyone else played through to the end yet? What are your thoughts?

Racing Games May Spur Risky Driving

WASHINGTON (Reuters) — People who play car racing video games may be more prone to drive recklessly and get into accidents, according to a study that adds to evidence that video games can influence the behavior of some players.

The study by German researchers published on Sunday examined the effect these games, featuring realistic driving environments with players often racing through city and suburban traffic, affect people who play them. Read the full story on CNN.com»

Join the ECA

Gamers represent nearly fifty percent of the US population and spend $10 billion annually on gaming, yet they’re constantly misunderstood or even overlooked by politicians and the mainstream press. Formed in 2006, the Entertainment Consumers Association (ECA) is a non-profit membership-based advocacy organization for consumers of interactive entertainment. The ECA is here to give gaming consumers a voice and to keep us in-the-know about our rights, the anti-games legislation and other concerns. Membership is a measly $20 and you get a ton of perks. If you’ve ever had a place in your heart for digital entertainment, you owe it to the industry to join today¬ª
