My friend Alex sent me a couple of links from Crafster.org where “crafty hipsters share clever ideas.” I think it’s time to learn how to knit.

Yesterday, Colette Bennett posted a rumor on Destructoid that Best Buy games could be selling for as low as $1.99 today. Is this true? Could today be the greatest day for broke gamers throughout the U.S.? Click here to see Colette’s post for a complete list of games and prices and keep your fingers crossed…

It’s so annoying when the media blames violent video games for the existence of violent people, but it’s happening again with the Milwaukee murder of forty-nine-year-old Rex Baum. Andrew Ihrcke, who started off by punching and kicking Baum and ended by smearing his own feces across Baum’s face before knifing him, told police that killing “the bum” reminded him of playing a violent video game, a police report shows. I don’t know about you, but I can’t think of a single game I’ve played that involves feces. Anyway, the media went nuts over the quote but didn’t do much investigation on Ihrcke who was one lost seventeen-year-old.
My friend David pointed out this post on Penny Arcade’s blog where Ihrcke’s stepmother submitted an open letter explaining that there was far more behind the murder than video games. Take a few minutes to read it. Quite interesting.

From YouTube: “The FanBoiz are waving their Wii’s across the globe with their first single from their chart topping debut album “The Other Castle”. Straight out of Boston, these guys know nothing but the streets…as well as those of Hyrule and the Mushroom Kingdom. Check it out & keep it real. [razmig.net]“

Yesterday I stumbled across WhiteTrashCharms.com. If you’re looking for an affordable, clever gift for the not-so-average girl, this site is your answer. What better way to say “I dig you” than to buy that special someone a crushed beer can necklace? From Willy Wonka’s Golden Ticket pendant to my personal favorite, the Play Me necklace, White Trash Charms is an excellent resource for unique jewelry.

Have you already mastered all of the tracks in Guitar Hero I? Guitar Hero II is scheduled for a 4/3/07 release – so dust off those leather pants, find your snake skin boots and get ready for your encore. The PS2 and Xbox 360 versions will feature the same 64 core songs, but 360 owners will also be able to download 10 exclusive tracks through the marketplace.
With the exception of “Stop!”, “John the Fisherman” and the 24 unlockable bonus songs (which are original artist performances) all songs in the game are covers. I recently got a MySpace friend request from Scott Dugdale who played keyboards, drums and did programming for both games. So far, the cover songs are getting rave reviews, so check out his MySpace page and show him some love for helping us all feel like rock stars.
